Description from www.kirin.com:
KIRIN ICHIBAN
With his gold label and Special Premium Reserve appellation, Ichiban outclasses and outperforms.
In 1990, Ichiban's debut made a splash in the world of super premium beers. The luxurious single wort (or first press) process yields a unique, complex flavor. With his gold label and "Special Premium Reserve" appellation, Ichiban outclasses and outperforms. But don't be fooled by a snooty attitude -- this is a great beer that goes with anything.
What makes Ichiban great
Prominent wort. Finest barley malt, premium hops, smooth finish, no bitter aftertaste.
4.95% alcohol by volume.
145 calories (per 12-oz. serving)
Available in 12-oz and 22 oz bottles, 12-oz and 24 oz cans, plus 7.75-gal and 15.5-gal kegs.

kirin ichiban really wants me to not like it. it has so many strikes against it before it even comes up to bat. kirin is the trendy japanese beer, that i would guess to say that fosters once was of the australian early-90s. in addition it comes in a light variety, and is sold at kroger.
now for the strikes for it.. well.. it's a delicious beer. it's slightly fruity, crisp. i want to say that it doesn't have the cheap corn taste of other pilsners, but maybe that's just because it's more expensive.
regardless, it's a tasty beer, really everything a good beer should be. maybe not 'wow' good, but definitely 'mmm' good.
7/10
