Brew Crew 09/29/06 Spaten Oktoberfest Ur-Marzen

Brew Crew, September 29 2006, Spaten Oktoberfest Ur-Marzen

Amber in color. This medium bodied beer has achieved its impeccable taste by balancing the roasted malt flavor with the perfect amount of hops. Having a rich textured palate with an underlying sweetness true to tradition.

Spaten Oktoberfest has a lot to live up to considering it is the original Oktoberfest beer. It had a nice amber color to it. The beer had a very nice sweet aroma. Spaten Oktoberfest went down very easily and didn't leave much of an aftertaste. It was malty with a hops taste. I would rate this beer as Drunkable. It was very tasty.

Yes. Amber color, medium head. I put my nose on the head, but couldn't get a whiff. Is it the allergies?
I feel like I'm finally getting what Ocktoberfest beers taste like. Last week I enjoyed a six-pack of Christian Moerlein Oktoberfest as my very first 'fest beer, and I promise it was the same beer. Same color through to the same taste. Bitter, but pleasant. Very hopsy and distinct, and overall very enjoyable. I like Oktoberfest... any Oktoberfest it seems (we're going to continue pretending that last week's pint night never happened).
6/10.
